Rand is a licensed physical therapist with more than 10 years experience in the Chattanooga area. A graduate of the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, he has focused his career and clinical training in the areas of pain management and manual therapeutic techniques. Also, he has extensive experience working with the geriatric patient population in a variety of settings, including skilled nursing, long-term care, and outpatient.
Rand is especially interested in the biochemical and neurophysiological aspects of the mind-body connection. His ongoing independent research has lead to his treatment rationale:
"Every time we add new knowledge in the form of information or experience, the brain sort of upgrades it's hardware. Problems often develop when the brain becomes too rigid, losing it's natural plasticity due to the perpetual unconscious re-creation of the same thoughts and actions (i.e. the daily grind). Once we understand how these habits are created, we can begin to "rewire" the brain with positive and beneficial habits. In short, if we change the way the brain functions, we change our health."
Rand is currently pursuing clinical specialty in neurology, and hopes to return to school for his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in the very near future. |
